Franklin J. Carter, who spent his legal career in private practice in Richmond, died at his home in Kilmarnock on Aug. 6. He was 62.
A native of Warrenton, Carter was Phi Beta Kappa at Hampden-Sydney College; he earned his law degree from the University of Virginia.
Carter served on a number of corporate and charitable boards. He was a vestry member at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and president of its child care center.
He was a trustee of Ducks Unlimited International and D.U. Virginia state chairman.
An interment memorial service was held Aug. 10 at Warrenton Cemetery.
