Settlement is in the air

Maybe it’s the siren call of the golf course as spring takes hold. A bunch of lawsuits were settled this week.

-Nighthawk Radiology, which provides x-ray reads by internet for hospitals without round-the-clock radiologists, will pay $500,000 to settle a Roanoke wrongful death case. According to the Roanoke Times, the patient’s family claimed that Nighthawk misread an x-ray of a chest aneurysm.

-A Virginia Beach landlord will cough up $361,000 to be rid of a race discrimination lawsuit, according to the Virginian-Pilot. The story does not indicate what happened with the Roanoke white supremacist who was haled into court for menacing the lawyer who represented the tenants.

-The Daily Press reports that a company that makes lead aprons for x-ray technicians agreed to pay $70,000 to settle a sexual harassment suit.
