Robert B. “Chip” Delano Jr., a shareholder and member of the risk management practice group at Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, received the Defense Research Institute Community Service Award. Delano was recognized by the DRI for having continuously served for over 30 years in various adult leadership positions in the Boy Scouts of America. He is also an active member of First Baptist Church in Richmond, where he is a deacon; he is the secretary of the First Baptist Benevolent Association and serves on the personnel committee.

Delano has served as the DRI state representative for Virginia, as its Mid-Atlantic regional director and as a member of its board of directors. He also previously served as president of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. Delano concentrates his law practice in the areas of tort, insurance and appellate litigation.

Deborah M. Casey of Vandeventer Black has been elected chair of the Virginia Legislative Action Committee of Community Associations Institute. VALAC monitors and influences legislation that affects community associations in Virginia.

She is past president of the Community Associations Institute, Southeastern Virginia Chapter and is the only lawyer from that region to be admitted to CAI National’s College of Community Association Lawyers.

Retired U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry R. Poretz has joined The McCammon Group. Poretz served in the U.S. District Court in Alexandria from 1992 until his retirement in August 2008. Prior to his judicial career, Poretz was a partner with a Washington law firm and an assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Alexandria.

He currently serves as a judicial member of the Federal Bar Association’s Northern Virginia chapter. He is a past director and executive board member of the Alexandria Bar Association.

Hunton & Williams LLP has recently added four associates to its Richmond and Washington offices.

Anthony T. Rapchick has been rehired to the Richmond office. He was previously with Philip Morris USA.

Katharyn I. Christian has joined the Richmond office as the firm’s pro bono fellow. She is a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama law school.

J. Eric Crupi and Araj F. Ahmed have joined the firm’s Washington office. Both attorneys previously practiced with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

Willcox & Savage has added four associates to the firm.

Michael S. Fausnight focuses on commercial real estate matters and is located in the Virginia Beach office. He is a 2008 graduate of the College of William & Mary, where he earned his law degree and MBA. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Akron in 2004.

Stephanie J. Novak focuses on commercial real estate matters. She is a 2008 graduate of the William & Mary law school. She earned her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2004.

Trey T. Parker focuses on corporate matters. He is a 2008 graduate of the Washington and Lee University law school. He earned his undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in 2004.

Bryan C.R. Skeen focuses on employment matters. He is a 2008 graduate of the William & Mary law school. He earned his undergraduate degree from Elon College in 2000. Prior to law school, Skeen worked at Fox Sports Net in Atlanta.

J. Kyle Farmer has joined Martin & Raynor PC as an associate in its Charlottesville office, practicing in the areas of family law and civil litigation.

Stephanie Pitsenberger Cook has opened a new law firm, Stephanie Pitsenberger Cook PC . The firm is located in Roanoke and specializes in estate administration, estate planning, guardianships/conservatorships, business law and real estate.

Blankingship & Keith PC has added three associate attorneys to its Fairfax office.

Patricia C. Amberly has joined the business and corporate practice group. Amberly received her law degree from the University of Richmond and her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia.

Laurie L. Proctor will focus on civil litigation, eminent domain, condemnation and commercial matters. She received her law degree from George Mason University and her undergraduate degree from Harding University.

Donald Y. Yu focuses on civil litigation, education and local government law. Yu earned an undergraduate and a master’s degree from Columbia University. He received his law degree from Northwestern University.
