Norfolk delegation agrees on judges

Electing three new judges in Norfolk in the next session of the General Assembly apparently won’t be a repeat of the battle to fill three circuit court vacancies there that occurred this year.

Sources say the delegation has agreed on:

- Mary Jane Hall, who is of counsel in the Norfolk office of Kaufman & Canoles, to replace Circuit Judge John C. Morrison Jr., who has reached the mandatory retirement age of 70;

- Clay L. Macon, a partner in the Chesapeake firm of Glasser & Macon, to replace General District Judge Louis A. Sherman, who was elevated to the circuit court; and

- Michelle Jaune Lee Atkins of the firm of Abrons, Fasararo & Sceviour, who will succeed Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Judge Jerrauld C. Jones, who was also elevated to circuit court.

Gov. Tim Kaine appointed Sherman, Jones and Commonwealth’s Attorney John R. Doyle III to the circuit court seats after the legislature was unable to do so during the 2008 regular session or in two special sessions.
