Type of Case: De-gloving to and multiple fractures of right hand, intersection collision

Summary: Plaintiff suffered a de-gloving injury and multiple fractures to her dominant right hand in a collision in which the defendant ran a red light. Plaintiff underwent painful skin-grafting procedures and surgeries, but still has limited use of a badly scarred hand.
She incurred $268,000 in medical expenses and lost $20,000 in wages. Although defendant had only $25,000 in coverage, the vehicle in which she was a passenger had underinsured motorist coverage of $500,000 and an umbrella policy with $1 million of coverage.
