Type of Case: Surgery to remove plaque in carotid artery conducted on wrong side

Attorney: Stephen C. Swain, Virginia Beach

Summary: Surgery to remove plaque in the left carotid artery was mistakenly conducted on the right artery. As a result, the blood flow from both arteries to the brain was restricted. Plaintiff suffers aphasia from the resulting brain damage.
