Supreme Court upholds dismissal of suit against blogger

The Supreme Court of Virginia has rejected an appeal by a Christiansburg developer who was shut out in his lawsuit against a critical blogger.

The blogger had mocked the appearance of construction materials stored on developer Roger Woody’s property.  Woody sued, claiming the posts on the “ThinkChristiansburg” blog undermined his business.

Woody’s lawsuit was tossed by a Montgomery County judge in October.  Now, Woody’s request for an appeal has been refused by the Supreme Court.

The ACLU of Virginia represented the blogger with help from cooperating attorney Jonathan Rogers of Floyd.

  1. Thank you for reporting on this case on the web and in print. It’s important, and will likely be cited as precedent. I was terrified the whole time, and at some point soon will realize it’s well and truly over.
