Hunton associate is Monopoly whiz

Richmond lawyer Ellis Baggs is making news out of the office.

Baggs, who normally works on environmental issues for Hunton & Williams at the firm’s Richmond office, competes this week in the 2009 Monopoly U.S. National Championship in Washington.  Grand prize is $20,580 in real dollars, the same amount (in Monopoly money) assigned to the bank in the Monopoly game.

The winner also gets to vie for the world championship in Las Vegas in October, according to the report in the Danville Register Bee.

Baggs uses his Monopoly interest as a family learning tool.  “We’re all interested in learning to be good sports — not sore losers and not sore winners,“ Baggs said. “There are a lot of lessons that can by learned by playing Monopoly and board games in general.“
