Intellectual Property – Purloined Password Not ‘Trade Secret’

StateScape, which has a Web site for subscriber lobbyists, can sue for copyright and contract violations for a competitor’s alleged unauthorized use of passwords to access StateScape’s database, but the purloined passwords were not “trade secrets,” an Alexandria U.S. District Court says.
