Liberty University revokes status of Democratic Party club

A Liberty University dean complimented the college’s Democratic club last fall for being a faith-based organization working within the Democratic Party.

But last week the same dean sent the club an e-mail saying “we are unable to lend support to a club whose parent organization stands against the moral principles held by” the university. The News & Advance has the details.

This is a joke. How can Liberty University be accredited if it squelches dissent from even the most mainstream of organizations?

I’d like to see an investigation into LU’s accreditation based on this flagrant violation of its students’ rights to free speech and freedom of conscience. And if LU receives federal funding let’s hope the feds find this worthy of investigation and possible revocation of said funds.
