VSB Disciplinary Actions

On May 27, the Virginia State Bar Third District Committee, Section I, imposed a public reprimand on Chesterfield lawyer Renay Melitta Fariss for violating professional rules that govern misconduct, confidentiality of client information, and presenting or threatening criminal or other charges to obtain an advantage or to harass.

On June 8, a Virginia State Bar Seventh District Subcommittee imposed a public admonition on Goochland lawyer Keith H. Waldrop for violating professional rules that govern diligence and communication. According to the VSB, the misconduct occurred in a court-appointed criminal representation. This discipline was an agreed disposition of misconduct charges against Waldrop.

On June 8, a Virginia State Bar Fifth District, Section I, Subcommittee imposed a public reprimand with terms on Falls Church lawyer Christopher B. Shedlick for violating professional rules that govern responsibilities regarding nonlawyer assistants, professional independence of a lawyer, unauthorized practice of law, communication and advertising about a lawyer’s services, and firm names and letterheads. The misconduct involved the management of Shedlick’s law office and his advertisements, which used the name and likeness of a disbarred attorney. According to the VSB, this discipline was an agreed disposition of misconduct charges against Shedlick.
