Mayor proposes law school in Roanoke

Roanoke Mayor David Bowers used a state of the city address today to float a proposal for a law school in the Star City.

“Lynchburg has a law school. Greensboro has a law school. Grundy has a law school, and Roanoke should have a law school, too,” Bowers said, as reported by The Roanoke Times .

Bowers, whose law office is a short walk from City Hall, said an ad-hoc group already is working quietly to explore the idea.  Other city officials seemed dubious, however, the paper reports.

  1. Why in the world do we need another law school in that area of the state or any area of Virginia for that matter? Uof R, W &M, W &L, UVA, Regent, Liberty, GMU and Appalachian give us 8 law schools!! This is not NY or CA.
