Former Page County Sheriff Danny Presgraves admitted to obstruction of justice and misuse of inmate labor before U.S. District Judge Glen Conrad Friday morning in Harrisonburg.
Presgraves faces up to 20 years in prison on the federal racketeering charge, and Conrad told Presgraves he can definitely expect to do some time, according to The Roanoke Times .
Presgraves had been named in a 23-count indictment notable for its variety of allegations, from protecting cockfighting operations to misusing public funds to sexually assaulting female members of his staff.
“He thought he was king of the county and could do anything he wanted to,” said prosecutor Tom Bondurant.
Sentencing has not been scheduled.
