At U.Va., trial advocacy triumphs where football falls short

A trial advocacy team from the University of Virginia has accomplished what the school’s football team could not .  It defeated William & Mary.

U.Va. here duly notes the fine achievement of its four-member mock trial team in taking the win at the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Regional Tournament in Washington D.C. last month.  According to the school’s announcement, the team “beat 12 other teams, including William and Mary in the final round” (emphasis added).

There.  That takes some of the sting out of U.Va.’s football foibles, doesn’t it?

We would be remiss not to note the moot court achievements of George Mason University’s law school, where the school swept the top awards at regionals in Richmond, sending one team to compete in the National Moot Court Competition in New York in February.
