Gov. Timothy Kaine’s chief of staff has been named to a similar position at Virginia Commonwealth University.
The school said Tuesday in a release that Wayne Turnage will become chief of staff for President Michael Rao on Jan. 16, when Kaine’s term ends.
Turnage manages the staff and budget in Kaine’s office and cabinet, and works with state agencies to develop and enact the governor’s policy agenda.
At VCU, Turnage will serve as a member of Rao’s senior leadership team. He also will manage the president’s office staff and assist university leaders with implementation of the school’s strategic initiatives.
