Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell has appointed three members to his cabinet, including two lawyers.
Lisa Hicks-Thomas of the attorney general’s office will be his Secretary of Administration, reports the Richmond-Times Dispatch. According to a press release from the govenor-elect’s office, Hicks-Thomas has worked in the attorney general’s office since 2001 and was appointed deputy attorney general for the technology, real estate, environment and transportation division in 2007.
Sean Connaughton, former chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, will serve as McDonnell’s Secretary of Transportation. Connaughton, who at one time practiced international and maritime law, is also the corporate vice president of government affairs for the American Bureau of Shipping. Todd Patterson Haymore, who currently serves as commissioner of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, will assume the post of Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry in McDonnell’s administration. Gov. Tim Kaine issued a statement, supporting McDonnell on Haymore’s appointment.
