Former state Sen. George M. Warren Jr., a prominent trial lawyer and prosecutor, has died at age 87, reports the Bristol Herald Courier .
Sen. Warren served in the Virginia Senate from 1963 to 1975. He was Bristol Commonwealth’s Attorney from 1976 until his retirement in 2002. He also served eight years on the state Council of Higher Education and took a leading role in establishing the College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.
