State tax revenues up for five of six months

Virginia revenue collections were up again in August, topping revenues from the same time last year for the fifth time in the last six months.
Gov. Bob McDonnell said last week that revenues were up 5.3 percent over collections in August 2009. McDonnell called the increase a “small, but positive, sign for Virginia’s economy.”
