Maritess Lopez didn’t seem to be breathing normally when her brother-in-law picked her up after plastic surgery on her breasts and abdomen in July 2008.
He asked a nurse about Lopez’s breathing.
Not a problem, the nurse responded. “She’s still under anesthesia.”
Thirty-three hours later, the 36-year-old mother of four died from aspiration pneumonia.
