Evan Bayh, the former Indiana governor and senator, has joined the Washington office of McGuireWoods LLP, where the firm says he will serve as a strategic advisor to its most significant clients.
He will counsel clients whose business goals are affected by the actions of Congress and the executive branch and by state government, the firm said in a release announcing his employment.
Bayh, 55, served two terms each as governor and as a U.S. senator. He did not seek reelection to a third time and left the Senate earlier this month.
Richard Cullen, McGuireWoods’ chairman, said Bayh had a reputation as a senator for driving “consensus around issues that mattered most. He will help us and our clients understand how to get things done in an environment rife with partisan perils but aching for sensible, common ground solutions.”
In addition to being a partner at McGuireWoods, Bayh is a senior advisor at Apollo Global Management in New York City.
