Virginia prosecutors are backing a bill at the General Assembly intended to take away judges’ newfound authority to defer and dismiss criminal charges in any case, even when the evidence would support conviction.     Putting aside the obvious conflcit of interest in Prosecutor Gilbert pushing legislation to further stack the deck in favor of his office, what’s so wrong with allowing this case decison to be applied for awhile so we have some actual experience and knowledge about whether it truly is a problem for anyone other than prosecutors and cops who are so used to having it their way all the time?
