Cynthia Dinah Fannon Kinser was formally invested yesterday as Virginia’s first woman chief justice and only the 25th person to hold that position in the long history of the commonwealth.

Chief Justice Hassell strove mightily to promote justice through provision of the training and tools necessary for all attorneys to competently represent their clients. He will be missed. Congratulations to new Chief Justice Kinser whose comments and background bode well for continuing Leroy Hassell’s efforts.
