Virginia Beach lawyer Ken Geroe dies

Ken Geroe, a former Portsmouth prosecutor and a partner in the Virginia Beach firm of Brydges, Geroe, Rosenblatt & O’Brien PLLC, has died while undergoing liver transplant surgery at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He was 56.

Mr. Geroe grew up in the Bayview section of Norfolk, graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and attended the U.S. Naval Academy. He earned degrees from Old Dominion University and the College of William and Mary law school.

In addition to serving as a prosecutor in Portsmouth and as an assistant public defender, Mr. Geroe tried  criminal and civil cases after he entered private practice and was regarded as an expert in probate administration.

He served for eight years on the Old Dominion University Board of Visitors and received its Alumni Service Award in 1986. He also was a member of the State Board for Community Colleges and chaired it for a year.

Mr. Geroe is survived by four children.
