McGuireWoods, Hunton & Williams named among ‘Best Law Firms for Women’

Two Virginia-based law firms have been named among the top 50 Best Law Firms for Women. McGuireWoods and Hunton & Williams, both based in Richmond, earned spots on the 2011 list.

The survey, now in its fourth year, is published by the National Association for Female Executives and Flex-Time Lawyers. The 50 winning firms were selected based on their responses to an application measuring areas such as workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, advancement and retention of women. Firms with at least 50 lawyers were eligible to apply.

Four firms who are based in other states but have Virginia offices were also ranked among the top 50:

  • Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw and Pittman
  • Morrison & Foerster
  • Holland & Knight
  • Littler Mendelson

A number of DC-based firms also made the list:

  • Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner
  • Arent Fox
  • Covington & Burling
  • Steptoe & Johnson
  • Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr

The top 50 firms will be honored in New York on Sept. 21.
