Man accused of punching teen during football melee

By: The Associated Press

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) — A criminal investigator with the Treasury Department has been accused of punching a high school football player during an on-field fight after a game in northern Virginia.

Prince William County police say 48-year-old Edward Bosak of Woodbridge turned himself in Monday to face misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and disorderly conduct. He was released on his own recognizance.

Police say Bosak punched a 16-year-old player for the Hylton High School team after the Oct. 28 game between Hylton and Potomac High School.

Bosak’s attorney, Blair Howard, says Bosak’s son plays for Potomac and that Bosak volunteers as an equipment manager. He says there was a “melee” on the field after the game and that Bosak was trying to break it up. He says he’s confident Bosak will be cleared.
