An Abingdon lawyer has been charged with public intoxication, assault, trespassing and a half-dozen traffic charges.
Berry Leslie Conway II was arrested three times in the past two weeks, accused of being drunk in public, threatening a couple and later urinating in their yard, reports the Bristol Herald Courier.
His troubles began on June 3, when he was confronted by police in a Washington County parking lot. Conway, who police said appeared intoxicated, was arrested after allegedly becoming belligerent and cursing. He refused a breathalyzer test and was released from jail early the next morning.
Three days later, he was accused of threatening a man and woman at their home. According to the criminal complaint, Conway drove a motorcycle onto the couple’s lawn and made verbal threats. He was not present when police arrived, but was later arrested and released on a $6,000 bond.
On June 11, Conway returned to the couple’s home. According to a witness in the home, Conway dropped his pants and urinated on the yard. The criminal complaint alleges that a 9-year-old girl was looking out of the window and witnessed the event.
Conway was arrested again and has since been released from jail. His next court appearance is July 13.
