Burnett tapped as JIRC counsel

Senior Assistant Attorney General Katherine Baldwin Burnett has been appointed as counsel to the Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission, effective Jan. 1.

She will succeed Donald R. Curry, who is retiring Dec. 31 after more than 13 years with the commission.

Burnett has been with the AG’s office since 1985; she was named senior assistant AG and director of the Capital Litigation Unit in 2000.

Burnett, a graduate of the University of Richmond law school, will join the JIRC staff in August and serve as assistant counsel until Curry’s retirement.

The commission will be filling the assistant counsel job by the end of the year.

  1. Based on my experiences, I can see that it’s a difficult, complicated, important job. I wish her well.
