Hispanic bar endorses Ballou, Armstrong for judgeship

The Hispanic Bar Association of Virginia gives top marks to two of the 10 candidates for a Western District federal judgeship opening this year.

The HBA-VA listed both U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Ballou and former Del. Ward Armstrong as “highly recommended.”

The following candidates were deemed “recommended”:

  • Federal court Clerk Julia Dudley
  • Roanoke lawyer John Fishwick Jr.
  • Law Prof. Rachel Harmon
  • Salem lawyer Elizabeth Dillon

The HBA-VA identified Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeb Terrien as “qualified.”

The HBA-VA recommendations have been sent to both of Virginia’s two U.S. senators, who are expected to advise President Barack Obama in making an appointment.
