The U.S. Senate today unanimously confirmed U.S. Magistrate Judge M. Hannah Lauck as a judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The vote was 90-0.
Lauck was nominated by President Barack Obama in December and approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee in March.
Lauck will fill the vacancy created by the March retirement of U.S. District Judge James R. Spencer, who continues to sit as a senior judge. Lauck is a former clerk for Spencer.
Lauck has been a magistrate judge since 2005.
Previously, she worked as a supervising attorney at Genworth Financial Inc. and as an assistant U.S. attorney.
