Kristi S. Wright is the new Director of the Department of Legislative and Public Relations for the Supreme Court of Virginia Office of the Executive Secretary.
Wright joined OES in October 2008 as staff attorney in the legislative relations department. Prior to joining OES, Wright served as staff to the to the Virginia Commission on Family Violence Prevention and the Virginia Commission on Youth. She also has worked in private practice and for Voices for Virginia’s Children.
Wright is a graduate of Texas Tech University. She earned an MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and her JD from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond.
The Department of Legislative and Public Relations manages legislative matters, and handles media and public relations for Virginia’s judicial system. The department provides staff support for the development of legislative proposals recommended by the Judicial Conferences of Virginia, and represents the commonwealth’s judicial system on legislative matters before the General Assembly. The department also is responsible for responding to inquiries from the press and the general public, including requests for records and information.
Wright replaces Katya Herndon, who joined the Virginia Department of Forensic Science as Deputy Director in April.
