Courts offer subscription services for notices

Virginia’s appellate courts are offering free notification services for court events, such as postings of new opinions and announcements of rule changes. The new subscription services also provide for text messages about court closing notices.

The notice services are offered by both the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals. Email notice subscribers can choose to be notified when either court issues new opinions, posts oral argument recordings, posts argument schedules or issues court calendars. Subscribers also can get notices of rule changes and press releases.

“The Courts are pleased to provide this service in order to keep the bar and the public informed of important events in a timely fashion,” a news release said.

The subscription process can be accessed on Virginia’s Judicial System website home page.

Email notices are available for a variety of court information. Text notices appear to be available only for court closing announcements.
