Subscribers: Search and Print Back Issues FREE!
By Virginia Lawyers Weekly
Published: February 9, 1998
Beginning today, Feb. 9, 1998, every paid newspaper subscriber will be entitled to search and print for FREE the full articles in the Virginia Lawyers Weekly Archives on the Internet!
This means that you can begin and end every research question with a search of Virginia Lawyers Weekly Archives, at no additional cost- that’s right, for FREE- just for being a newspaper subscriber. You will be able to find every news story or digest about every case or topic that has been reported since 1993 to the current week- over 15,000 articles to date. All of this for free. All of this in seconds. All of this for you. No strings attached. This service is a benefit for our paid subscribers only. Other companies charge $20-50 a month or $200-600 a year for this type of service and we are offering it free to all our subscribers.
We believe this offer to be virtually unprecedented anywhere in the country, for newspapers or magazines, whether consumer or trade. When Lawyers Weekly was founded in 1972 by Ed Pawlick, his dream was to compile weekly all of the news that a lawyer needed to practice in Massachusetts. As a sole practitioner for 12 years, he knew how crucial this information was. He wanted it to be affordable to every lawyer (at a cost of about two hours of a lawyer’s time) as opposed to the expensive, loose-leaf services that were available at the national level. The new free Archives program is offered in keeping with that spirit. Now, not only will you receive your newspaper each week, you will also be able to access previous articles, quickly and easily, at no extra charge. Get the digests and expert opinions here first, for free. You’d be crazy to pay for research elsewhere before you looked at the Lawyers Weekly Archives!
Lawyers Weekly is committed to being a leader in the industry. We have a web team of nine people dedicated solely to technology and continually bringing you new, cutting-edge products to help you in your practice. We are hoping that we can defray a portion of our costs with advertising revenue as we have done with the printed version, but no newspaper or magazine has been able to do that yet. Regardless, we don’t want to make our subscribers wait for this to occur. We know the Internet is the future and we want to offer this service to you now as a benefit for being a subscriber. We are in this for the long haul. (If you are not yet using the Internet, we strongly suggest that you start now!)
As we try this exciting new concept, we must continue to ask for your help and encouragement. Obviously, we can only offer the free use of Lawyers Weekly Archives to an individual subscriber. Therefore, when you as a subscriber register for a password, you must understand that it is being offered only to you. If we see obvious misuse of a password, indicating it is not being used by the individual subscriber only, we will be forced to cancel the free Archives account.
To get started, go to the Lawyers Weekly Web Site at http://www.virginialaw.com and register with the name and account # on your subscription. The computer will automatically generate a password for you immediately. A password is for an individual and cannot be processed if there is only a firm name or library name on the account. For tracking and security issues for both you and Lawyers Weekly, each subscriber needs his/her own password. (If you would like to take advantage of this free service but don’t have a name on your subscription, you may add a name while registering for your password.)
Due to the anticipated volume, please do not call us and try to register over the phone. The fastest way to sign up is over the Internet. All of the information you need to register is there. And again, there is no charge for this service.
We thank you for your continued encouragement and support which have enabled us to become a nationwide leader. We are very excited and proud to offer this valuable service to you.
