Richmond lawyer Lisa F. Clement has entered the leadership loop of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. She became the group’s secretary at its annual meeting in Richmond last month.

Assuming a normal progression of officers, she will be the VADA’s first woman president in several years. She is not, however, the first female lawyer to be a VADA officer.

Petersburg Circuit Judge Pamela S. Baskervill was a VADA officer when she was elected to the bench in 2001.

As noted in last week’s profile, Stanley P. Wellman took office as VADA president at the Richmond meeting. The other officers are Marshall H. Ross of Harrisonburg, who is the president-elect, and Dennis J. Quinn of Washington, D.C., treasurer. Terrence L. Graves is the past president.

The VADA membership also elected a number of directors to its board:

•Potomac – Heather K. Bardot
•Southwest – Elizabeth G. Perrow
•Capitol – John R. Owen
•Blue Ridge – C.J. Steuart Thomas III
•Tidewater – Adam S. Rafal

Directors at large are Marlene T. Bryan, Kathleen M. McCauley, Dawn E. Boyce, Michael J. Garnier, Powell M. Leitch III, Carlyle R. Wimbish III , Robert L. Wise and Collin J. Hite.

Leitch will be the VADA’s state representative to the Defense Research Institute, the national organization of civil defense counsel.

Kari Lou Frank of Richmond will lead the VADA’s Young Lawyers Division.
