A lawyer who called herself “Madame Justice” when she ran unsuccessfully for the North Carolina Supreme Court has been hit with a public reprimand from the state bar in N.C.
Rachel Lea Hunter is an associate at a Durham law firm, but her campaign Web site reveals her flamboyant political side.
The Web site used to include a Q-and-A column called “Ask Madame Justice.” Hunter even sought to have herself listed on the ballot as “Madame Justice.”
The state bar took a dim view of a lawyer, who had never been a judge, publicly adopting the appellation she sought, reports The News & Observer.

In states where justices are elected, don’t expect much accuracy or decorum in campaign ads. No system is perfect, but Virginia has judges appointed by the legislature for fixed terms. A much better system than judicial elections.
