Rep. Scott urges torture prosecutions

April 30th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Breaking with the president he supported last year, Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Newport News, has joined other leaders who disagree with the president’s reluctance to prosecute overzealous interrogators.

The Virginian-Pilot reports Scott and 15 other Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder this week urging appointment of an independent counsel to pursue torture allegations.

Scott was one of Obama’s earliest and most vocal Virginia supporters.
