As a substitute judge, Justice O’Connor has heard nearly 80 cases and written more than a dozen opinions for federal appellate courts, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Justice O’Connor’s latest opinion, Walker v. Prince George’s County, Md., was decided July 30 in the 4th Circuit and upheld qualified immunity for an animal control officer who removed “a wolf named Dutchess” from its owners’ residence.

UPDATE:  O’Connor will speak at Roanoke College in Salem for Constitution Day on Sept. 17.
