When a disgruntled defendant insisted on offering his views of the legal process and his own lawyer’s competence during a preliminary hearing last week, Canton (Ohio) Municipal Court Judge Stephen Belden found a handy solution. He ordered the defendant’s mouth covered with duct tape.
According to the Associated Press, the method worked. Evidence was heard, robbery charges were advanced to a grand jury.
Now, if we can only find a practical judicial use of WD-40…
