"It appears to be a toxic courthouse," Criminal Court Judge Lynn Brown said of the new Washington County (Tenn.) Justice Center, reports the Johnson City Press . Workers at the gleaming facility in Johnson City have complained of coughing fits, burning eyes and runny noses.
Brown said he would not bring jurors into his courtroom for a week-long trial until the problem abates. He called off an upcoming homicide trial.
The local mayor says it’s formaldehyde in the carpets – a situation that should clear up with time.
