The National Center for State Courts has named Davison M. Douglas, dean of the College of William and Mary law school, a recipient of its 2010 Distinguished Service Award for contributions to the judiciary.
The center cited Douglas’ contribution as a founder of the Election Law Program, a joint venture of NCSC and the law school, to provide assistance to state judges faced with difficult election law disputes.
The program published a manual for judges on election law issues and produced as series of Internet-based lectures to educate judges, journalists and the general public about election law matters.
Douglas has been a professor at the law school since 1990 and was named dean in 2009.
