Gov. Timothy M. Kaine has appointed William J. Pantele, a three-term member of Richmond City Council, to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.
Pantele served as president of council from 2006-2008 but lost last year in a three-way race for mayor won by Dwight C. Jones.

Attorney General Robert F. McDonnell has noticed an appeal of a decision striking down two Virginia Alcohol advertising regulations.
U.S. Magistrate Judge M. Hannah Lauck in June ruled unconstitutional a regulation that barred the use of the term “Happy Hour” and similar advertising language and a regulation that prohibited all alcohol ads in college student publications. [...]
