Altria leads list of biggest-spending lobbyists

Altria spent the most in the last legislative year in lobbying Virginia public officials, according to the annual report by the Virginia Public Access Project. The holding company that has Philip Morris USA as its principal asset spent $328,848, according to VPAP.

LeClairRyan lobbyists jump ship

The Pittsburgh-based firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott LLC has conducted its second raid in the last three months on the Richmond operations of major law firms.

Kilgore to move to McGuireWoods

Former Attorney General Jerry W. Kilgore, now a lobbyist, is changing jobs, heading to the Richmond office of McGuireWoods LLP.
Kilgore joined the Richmond office of Williams Mullen in 2005, after his unsuccesssful campaign for governor. He has headed that firm’s government-relations department since then.
