Wagner enters LG race

wagnerAs expected, two weeks after announcing her resignation from the Kaine cabinet, Norfolk lawyer Jody Wagner has filed as a candidate for Virginia Lt. Governor.

In her bid for the 2009 Democratic LG nomination, Wagner faces Russell County businessman Jon Bowerbank, who has a head start on fund raising and organization. She also faces the threat of a run by former Del. Dick Cranwell of Vinton, a 30-year veteran of legislative political wars and the current chairman of the state party.

The winner of the Democratic primary next year will try to unseat incumbent Republican Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling.
