Richmond-based Hunton & Williams LLP is among the major law firms looking for business opportunities from the collapse of credit and stock markets.
It has formed what it calls a Financial Industry Recovery Group with lawyers experienced in all areas related to the crisis, from financial institutions to regulation and capital formation to securitization and executive compensation and taxation.
For those in a heap of trouble, the group also has lawyers with expertise in governmental investigations, bankruptcy and distressed assets.
The group has its own Web site, //www.huntonfinancialindustryrecovery.com, with up-to-date articles and analysis on such recently passed legislation as the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 and the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
In a press release, Kevin Buckley, a partner and a leader of the team says, “Our group brings a broad perspective and a keen understanding of the pricing, structuring, and regulatory capital considerations required to represent our clients in these matters.”
Although its largest contingent is in Richmond, the firm has attorneys in such financial and political centers as New York City, Washington, London, Brussels, Beijing and Singapore.
