Judge rings up the register for wings infringers

The trouble is well into six figures for two Northern Virginia restaurateurs and their associates who were held liable this year for stealing the style and the recipes of a popular chain of Buffalo wing restaurants.  U.S. District Judge James C. Cacheris yesterday entered judgment for a total of nearly $270,000 against a variety of individuals and entities involved in the infringement.  The winner is the chain of four Buffalo Wing Factory restaurants in the Dulles corridor area.  The losers are operators of the competing Buffalo Wing House in Herndon.

The judgment for $267,216.50 includes $171,000 in contempt sanctions and more than $66,000 in attorneys fees.  Another $120,000 is still owed under a consent order.
