High staff turnover and questions about the mission are issues for the new Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation.
The maximum-security facility, located in rural Nottoway County, holds those deemed by courts to be “sexually violent predators” indefinitely for treatment after their prison terms end, reports the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
However, staff and residents alike question whether the facility provides an adequate rehabilitiation and treatment, or if it serves as just another prison.
A spokesperson for the facility says the VCBR is making positive progress and that turnover rate has improved since last year.
