Kilgore backs Brownlee for AG

Former Attorney General Jerry Kilgore has put his backing behind John Brownlee of Roanoke, one of three contenders for the Republican nomination for attorney general.  The blessing gives Brownlee a boost over rivals state Sen. Ken Cuccinelli of Fairfax and Arlington lawyer Dave Foster.

According to The Roanoke Times, Kilgore said Brownlee’s prosecutorial experience would give him an edge in November.  Brownlee is the former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

Is Mr. Kilgore suggesting that prosecutorial experience would make Mr. Brownlee a better governor, or that it would make him a stronger candidate in the general election?
