Heaphy is sworn in as federal prosecutor

Freshly confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Tim Heaphy was sworn in this morning as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

Chief U.S. District Judge James P. Jones administered the oath of office at the Abingdon federal courthouse, according to a news release.

“This office will continue to work with all of the diverse communities in the Western District to both prevent crime and punish those who break the law,” Heaphy said.

Heaphy has 12 years of experience as a federal prosecutor.  Most recently, he has been in private practice with McGuireWoods.
