Who were the important mentors you have had and how did they impact your career?

My father, Hampton Dodd taught me from an early age to work hard.

What do you consider your biggest personal and/or professional accomplishment and why?

Created the Truckers Parade Against Cancer, which has helped Charlotte County Relay for Life into the top ten per capital in fundraising.

What advice would you give to a young person graduating from college this spring?

Set your goal, never stop trying to achieve it, and never ponder what could have been.

How do you achieve a balance between your professional life and your personal life?

This is my weakest and hardest job I have. I tend to combine the two very often. I have a family owned business so my father is there everyday working hand and hand.

When you were growing up, what did you want to be?

Since age ten, I had my heart set on running my dad’s business. I used to go to the business on Saturday’s and tormented the secretary by changing everything on the desk to make it my own. To my amazement after 27 years of employment and many ups and downs, my dad is still teaching me. I can say my dreams from childhood have come true.

What is your favorite book or movie and why?

The new version of Miracle on 34th Street. I love Christmas and the whole theme of how people working together can create so many possibilities. Also the whole love theme is great and melts my heart every time I watch it.

What are two things about you that not many people know?

1- My best time is spent on my lawn mower.
2- Every time I come out of a nursing home I thank God for my health.
