Roanoke Bar Foundation seeks scholarship apps

The Roanoke Bar Association Foundation is accepting applications for the 2011 James N. Kincanon scholarships, which will be awarded to graduating high school seniors or students attending a four-year college, university, or law school. The scholarship program was established in 1997 in honor of James N. Kincanon in recognition of his 50 years of service as Secretary/Treasurer of the Roanoke Bar Association.

An applicant must be a resident of the City of Roanoke, the City of Salem, or the County of Roanoke, or a graduate of a high school located in those jurisdictions. Applicants must be accepted, or expect to be accepted prior to the 2011 fall semester, into a 4-year college, university, or law school where enrolled in courses designed to prepare them for a legal career. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.

In 2010 the Roanoke Bar Association Foundation awarded $8,000 in scholarships.

Applications must be postmarked by March 31, 2011, and may be obtained from the Roanoke Bar Association website at www.roanokebar.com or by calling (540) 342-4905.
