The Roanoke Bar Association Foundation is accepting applications for the 2011 James N. Kincanon scholarships, which will be awarded to graduating high school seniors or students attending a four-year college, university, or law school. The scholarship program was established in 1997 in honor of James N. Kincanon in recognition of his 50 years of service as Secretary/Treasurer of the Roanoke Bar Association.
An applicant must be a resident of the City of Roanoke, the City of Salem, or the County of Roanoke, or a graduate of a high school located in those jurisdictions. Applicants must be accepted, or expect to be accepted prior to the 2011 fall semester, into a 4-year college, university, or law school where enrolled in courses designed to prepare them for a legal career. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.
In 2010 the Roanoke Bar Association Foundation awarded $8,000 in scholarships.
