Baril goes to Sands Anderson

Stephen E. Baril, a longtime litigator at Williams Mullen, has moved to Sands Anderson.

“I am thrilled to be part of a firm with a litigation legacy and one that’s laser-focused on the Richmond business community and has an entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.

“My strength has been in business litigation, and my focus has been on the Richmond business community,” he said. He’s on the board of directors of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Richmond Partnership and Venture Richmond.

He is a member of Gov. Robert F. McDonnell’s Jobs Commission and chairs its new business task force. Baril was a candidate for the Republican nomination for attorney general in 2005 but says political office isn’t a goal right now. “I’m still involved but I like being involved rather than committed” to politics, he said.

Baril also has been president of both the Richmond and Chesterfield Bar Associations and served for six years on the Virginia State Bar Council.
